Recently, there has been an escalation in Turkish provocations in the Aegean Sea region. Many analysts argue that this is related to the upcoming presidential elections in Turkey.
Others, on the other hand, place more emphasis on the structural factors leading to Turkish revisionist politics instead. The correct assessment and interpretation of the intentions of the Turkish leadership is critical in formulating a strategy to deal with Turkish provocations in the region. This issue, however, does not only concern Greece alone. Any developments in Greek-Turkish relations affect, in one way or another, Cyprus as well.
In order to analyse the various dimensions of this topic and with the aim of contributing to effective policymaking, the Institute is organising a Policy Meeting on October 19, with the participation of experts from Greece and Cyprus.
