Promoting rationality and scientific substantiation
The establishment of the Institute of Studies for Politics and Democracy comes at a time of pivotal geopolitical changes on the world scene, but also at a critical political conjuncture for Cyprus. Because of these, our society is in need of informed dialogue that will allow us to rationally determine our next steps in an era of new and great challenges. The establishment of the Institute comes hand in hand with contributing to precisely this type of dialogue of presenting new ideas and proposals, but above all, promoting sound discourse and scientific evidence as a necessary tool for policy-making. Through its everyday activity, the Institute endeavors to promote the culture of critical thinking and rationality on a collective level, as a bulwark against such phenomena as that of demagoguery and populism, which are produced by the reproduction of myths, social stereotypes and fake news.
