Bio

Evie Theocharous is a graduate of The Senior School Nicosia. At the age of eighteen she continued her academic career by obtaining her first-degree in BA European Studies and French from the University of Reading where she focused her dissertation on the role of the European Parliament in modern Europe, written in French. In between her studies at the University of Reading she worked for a year at the European Parliament in Brussels at the General Secretariat with the aim of participating in the actions for an effective European democracy. Her interest in Political Sciences led her to obtain an MSc in Global Governance and Ethics from University College London (UCL) focusing her dissertation on the challenges of the 2015 migration crisis on migration policies of host countries and analyzing policy recommendations targeted towards the proper integration of migrants within the society. She completed her internship at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus where she worked directly with the Crisis Management Centre and the General Secretariat during the COVID-19 pandemic crisis and the Beirut explosions while recently she collaborated with the Ministry in locating and organising repatriation flights for Cypriot citizens living in Ukraine during the Russian invasion. In addition, she collaborated with the confederation "Caritas" in European programs aimed at achieving the integration of immigrants into society where in between her responsibilities she was accountable for organizing and conducting relevant meetings and interviews with French speaking migrants. She was recently appointed by the Council of Europe as the youth delegate from Cyprus with the responsibilities of participating in the discussions and debates of the Congress sessions in Strasbourg and at the same time developing a project aimed at strengthening the participation of young people in Cyprus.
