Episode 8: Ask The Experts - Climate change and steps towards a green transition 

In the 8th episode of the "Ask the Experts" series, we answer the questions:

1 : It is now widely accepted that the climate crisis is already present and environmental experts are sounding the alarm. According to NASA, 2023 saw the hottest temperatures on record with an increase of about 1.2 degrees Celsius compared to the pre-industrial period in the late 19th century. To what extent can the transition to an energy sustainable world reduce this mercury threat?

2: As you already mentioned about atmospheric pollutants and the European policies that exist. Do you consider the European target of a 50% reduction in air pollution by 2030 and zero air pollution by 2050 realistic?

3 : Your published 2021 survey concluded that despite the intention to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from 78% of Europe's cities, 47% of them were not on track to achieve this goal. In the time since the survey was conducted until today, do you notice any improvement?

4: You talked about the difficulties and difficulties that exist and affect the green transition. Is it believed that artificial intelligence can contribute in the coming years towards the development, development and application of new models of energy production and distribution?

5: Let's talk more specifically about Cyprus. You talked about our role as a member state of the European Union. It is now believed that they should be the next steps and how to evaluate the progress that Cyprus has made so far in terms of the goal of the green transition and in particular in terms of the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

Episode 7: Reformation of the institution of the Attorney General  

On the occasion of his text on "The reformation of the institution of the Attorney General: A systemic approach" published on the website of the Institute, the Senior Research Fellow, Professor Nikitas Hatzimichael, proceeds with an in-depth analysis of the subject he is dealing with. Focusing on the substantive approach to the issue, he first lists the 4 elements of his own proposal. Then, with a brief historical review of the 60's, he explains how the conditions of then and now differ, necessitating revision and constitutional change. Next, it highlights the importance of comparative science during the stage of determining the changes that need to be made, while at the same time stating which countries it compares the Cyprus model to. It also outlines key challenges that may arise during a reform effort. Finally, it underlines the mission of think tanks by dividing them into three categories, namely policy formulation and promotion, explaining in what ways this is possible.



In the 6th episode of "Ask the Experts", we answer the questions:

2 : Very recently you contributed to the implementation of the United Nations (UN) Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report that assesses the consequences of climate change. What were the results?
