The centre-right ideological and political tendency is represented in the European Parliament by the European People's Party (EPP). It was founded in 1976 and its president is Manfred Weber. After the 2004 elections, the percentages of the EPP took a negative trend, until the last elections of 2024, when a stabilization with a partial increase is seen.
The center-left ideological-political trend is represented by the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D). It received its current name "Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats" on June 23, 2009. The president of the group is Irace Garcia Pereth. The second largest group in the European Parliament shows a downward trend in its percentages based on election results after 2004.
The liberal ideological-political trend is represented by the Renew Europe group, which consists of liberal and progressive parties. Renew Europe was known as the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) before it changed its name. It was renamed Renew Europe in June 2019 and is chaired by Hayer Valérie. Despite the increase in the percentages received in 2019, a partial decrease is observed in the last electoral process of 2024
The far-right ideological-political trend is represented by two main groups: the Identity and Democracy (ID) group and the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) group. The ID group was founded in 2019 and is chaired by Marco Zanni, while the ECR was founded in 2009 and chaired by Meloni Giorgia. The overall percentages of the two groups show an upward trend with the smallest increase recorded in the last elections of 2024.
The green ideological-political trend is represented by the group Greens/European Free Alliance (Greens/EFA). The group is co-chaired by Philip Lamberts and Terry Reintke. The Greens group, founded in 1999, show a significant descent in the trend of percentages as shown in the table above.
The left-wing ideological-political trend is represented in the European Parliament by the "Left in the European Parliament - Northern Green Left (GUE/NGL)" group. It was founded in 1989 and is chaired by Martin Sirdevan and Manon Aubry. The table above shows a significant drop in the percentages of the group after 2014 until the last elections in 2024.
The table above shows the elected MEPs who do not belong to a political group in the European Parliament. The "Others" category presents the newly elected MEPs who have not joined a political group at the moment.

The Democratic Alarm (DISY) is a center-right party founded in 1976 and its President is Annita Dimitriou. He is a member of the EPP in the European Parliament. As can be seen in the table above, until 2014 the percentages of the faction in the European elections were on the rise. After 2014 there is a decline in the next elections. DISY holds 2 seats in the European Parliament after the 2024 elections.
The Working People's Reform Party (AKEL) is a left-wing party founded in 1941 and its General Secretary is Stefanos Stefanou. He is a member of the European Left Party in the European Parliament. The percentages of the party in the European elections were stable with small fluctuations. In the 2024 elections, AKEL won 1 seat in the European Parliament.
The Democratic Party (DIKO) is a centrist party founded in 1976 and the President is Nikolas Papadopoulos. He is a member of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe in the European Parliament. As can be seen in the table above, the party's percentages in the European elections have fluctuated, with a big drop after 2019. In the 2024 elections, DIKO holds 1 seat in the European Parliament.
EDEK is a social democratic party founded in 1969 and its President is Marinos Sizopoulos. He is a member of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament. As can be seen in the table above, the percentages of the party in the European elections have shown a decline after 2019. After the elections of 2024, EDEK does not hold a seat in the European Parliament.
The National People's Front (ELAM) is a far-right party founded in 2008 and the President is Christos Christou. He is not a member of any pan-European political group in the European Parliament. By winning the seat in 2024, he will join the Group of European Conservatives and Reformists. The percentages of the party in the European elections have been on the rise in recent years. In the 2024 elections, ELAM won 1 seat in the European Parliament.
The Independent candidate Phidias Panagiotou was elected in 2024 in the European elections with a percentage of 19.36% gathering 71,330 votes. Phidias Panagiotou is not a member of any pan-European political group in the European Parliament.

In the analysis of the participation / abstention of the electoral body of Cyprus, the participation of the Turkish Cypriots must be taken into account. By Law of 2014, Turkish Cypriots who hold an identity card issued by the Republic of Cyprus are automatically registered in special electoral rolls. With the provisions of the above law, in 2014 59,000 Turkish Cypriots automatically gained the right to vote, of which only 2,150 voted. In 2019, 82,925 Turkish Cypriots had the right to vote, of which only 5,804 went to the polls. In the 2024 European elections, Turkish Cypriots registered in the special electoral rolls are 103,281 and only 5,676 exercised their right
