Portugal uses a proportional electoral system based on the d’Hondt method. The 230 seats in the Assembly of the Republic are allocated based on votes within multi-member constituencies. There is no fixed electoral threshold, but representation is influenced by the number of seats per constituency and the distribution of votes.
