Electoral System:
In the Philippines, general and local elections are held every three years on the second Monday of May, except for presidential elections which take place every six years. Midterm elections involve only congressional and local positions. Since 2010, the process has been automated. Executive positions are elected using the first-past-the-post system, while the Senate uses a multiple non-transferable vote system, with each voter selecting up to 12 candidates. For the House, voters cast two ballots: one for a district representative (first-past-the-post), and one for a party list (proportional representation).

The electoral authority is the Independent Commission on Elections (COMELEC), while election disputes are handled by the Supreme Court or relevant judicial bodies depending on the level of the election.
