Election Information


General Information
The elections were held in two rounds: First round: October 20, 2024 and Second round: November 3, 2024. The results are as follows:

Election Results:
Maia Sandu/PAS: 930,139 votes (55.35%)
Alexandr Stoianoglo/PSRM: 750,430 votes (44.65%)

Electoral System:
The President is elected by direct universal suffrage for a four-year term. A two-round majority system is applied where if no candidate obtains >50% in the first round, a second round is held between the top two candidates. Candidates must be over 40 years old, have lived in Moldova for at least 10 years, speak the Romanian language, and collect 15,000 signatures from at least 15 administrative units. The election is considered valid only if turnout exceeds 33.33%. The new Electoral Code of 2022 introduced stricter regulations for: Media, Voter identification, and Elections under emergency conditions.
