Bio
Marios Pittalis was appointed Lecturer in Mathematics Education at the University of Cyprus in 2021.
He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Cyprus, earning a B.A. in Educational Sciences in 2000. He continued with graduate studies at the same university, obtaining an M.A. in Mathematics Education in 2004 and a PhD in Mathematics Education in 2008.
From 2003 to 2021, he worked as Special Teaching Staff in the Department of Education at the University of Cyprus. Since 2015, he has been teaching in the Inter-University Program in the Methodology of Mathematics Teaching, offered by the Department of Mathematics of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
He has participated in the implementation of international research studies as well as a significant number of research projects funded by the University of Cyprus, the Research and Innovation Foundation, and the European Commission.
He has an extensive publication record, with over 80 publications in international scientific journals, conference proceedings, and book chapters published by international academic publishers. He serves on the editorial boards of international journals.
He has been appointed by the Cyprus Ministry of Education as a scientific collaborator in the team responsible for the development of the national mathematics curriculum. In addition, for the past six years, he has been actively involved in the development of new mathematics teaching materials for primary education.
