Election information


General Information
On March 2, 2025, the state elections in Hamburg were held to elect the members of the 23rd Hamburg Parliament (Hamburgische Bürgerschaft). The results are as follows:

Election Results:
SPD (Sozialdemokratische Partei Deutschlands): 33.5%
CDU (Christlich Demokratische Union Deutschlands): 19.8%
Grüne (Bündnis 90/Die Grünen): 18.5%
Die Linke: 11.2%
AfD (Alternative für Deutschland): 7.5%
Volt Deutschland: 3.2%
FDP (Freie Demokratische Partei): 2.3%

Electoral System:
According to Hamburg’s electoral system, the 121 seats in parliament are distributed as follows:
• 71 seats are elected directly from the 17 multi-member electoral districts through open lists.
• 50 seats are allocated via the parties’ open state lists.

Each voter has a total of ten votes: five for candidates in their electoral district and five for candidates on the state lists or for the lists themselves. Votes can be freely distributed among candidates (panaschieren) or concentrated on a single candidate (kumulieren).
