About the electoral system

Open list, proportional representation is used to elect the 200 members of the Finnish Parliament (Eduskunta) in 13 multi-member electoral districts. Six months before the elections, the number of representatives is based on the district's population. Åland (an autonomous and demilitarised region of Finland) has its own party system and a single-member electoral district.
