The discussion lunch organized by the Institute of Political and Democratic Studies, on the topic "Can Cyprus become an international arbitration center", was held today, Friday, May 17, 2024, at The Classic Hotel in Nicosia, in the presence of the Speaker of the Parliament and of the Democratic Alarm Mr. Annita Dimitriou.
During the meal, a speech was given by the guest of the Institute, Mr. Konstantinos Partasidis (KK), and a productive discussion followed between the attendees. Mr. Partasidis is a world-renowned Cypriot jurist and distinguished personality in the field of international arbitration. Educated at King's College London and Cambridge University, he was one of the founding partners of the world-renowned law firm Three Crowns.
Mr. Partasidis is currently considered "one of the leading lawyers of his generation" (Chambers UK) and is among the top 20 "Global Elite Thought Leaders" of Who's Who Legal. Konstantinos Partasidis is also one of the authors of a leading textbook on international arbitration, Oxford University Press, Redfern and Hunter on International Arbitration. In 2014 he was named King's Counsel in the United Kingdom.
The lunch was also attended by MPs, former ministers, academics from universities in Cyprus and abroad, as well as lawyers and associates of the Institute. This was followed by short greetings on behalf of the president of the Institute, Dr. Christoforos Fokaidis, and the president of DISY, Mrs. Annitas Dimitriou.
Mr. Partasidis will be the keynote speaker at a Conference organized by the Cyprus Arbitration Forum on Monday in Limassol, on the occasion of World Arbitration Day.
