Election Information


General Information:
The presidential elections in Cameroon were held on 12 October 2025 to elect the President of the Republic. Around 7.8 million registered voters participated, with turnout estimated at around 66% according to initial official figures, amid serious security concerns in the country’s Anglophone regions. The elections were marked by the exclusion of major candidates and a restricted political space for the opposition.

Election Results:
APaul Biya (RDPC – Rassemblement Démocratique du Peuple Camerounais): 45–50%
Issa Tchiroma Bakary (FSNC): 35–40%
Joshua Osih (SDF – Social Democratic Front): 7–10%
Cabral Libii (PCRN): 5–7%

Electoral System
The President of Cameroon is elected using the first-past-the-post system in a single nationwide constituency. The candidate with the most votes is elected without the need for an absolute majority. The presidential term lasts seven years and is renewable without limit. The Elections Cameroon (ELECAM) body oversees the process, while the Constitutional Council certifies the results. Citizens are eligible to vote from the age of 20 and above.
