Election Information
General Information
On October 27, 2024, parliamentary elections were held in Bulgaria, as the sixth consecutive snap elections since 2021, due to the inability to form a stable government after the June elections. The results are as follows:
Election Results:
GERB–SDS (Boyko Borisov): 642,931 votes, 26.39%, 69 seats
PP–DB (Kiril Petkov): 346,063 votes, 14.20%, 37 seats
Revival (Kostadin Kostadinov): 325,468 votes, 13.36%, 35 seats
DPS–New Beginning (Delyan Peevski): 281,366 votes, 11.55%, 30 seats
BSP–United Left (Atanas Zafirov): 184,403 votes, 7.57%, 20 seats
APS (Alliance for Rights and Freedoms): 182,263 votes, 7.48%, 19 seats
ITN (Slavi Trifonov): 165,160 votes, 6.78%, 18 seats
MECh (Morality, Unity, Honour): 111,946 votes, 4.60%, 12 seats
Electoral System:
The National Assembly consists of 240 members, elected through proportional representation with open lists. The country is divided into 31 multi-member electoral districts, with seat allocation based on population. The Hare method with largest remainder is applied for seat distribution. There is a 4% electoral threshold for a party or coalition to enter the National Assembly. Voters can choose preferential candidates within the party list.
