About the electoral system
The Belgian House of Representatives has 150 members elected from 11 constituencies (the ten provinces and Brussels) by the D'Hondt method with an electoral threshold of 5%. 87 members from the Flemish provinces are Dutch, while 47 from Brussels. The 16 members from Brussels choose their language group. Distribution of seats adjusted every ten years, last change in 2022. Germany has 60 members: 50 from regional parliaments and 10 chosen based on the results of federal elections. All Belgian citizens aged 18+ must vote. Non-Belgian residents cannot vote, but Belgians abroad can register. Voting is electronic in Brussels, German-speaking regions and 159 Flemish municipalities and by paper in 141 Flemish and 253 Walloon municipalities.
