General elections were held in Argentina on 22 October 2023 to elect the President, National Assembly and Senate. Because both main presidential candidates did not receive a majority in the first round, a second round will be held on November 19, 2023. The results were as follows:

About the electoral system

In Argentina, general elections are held every four years to elect the president, deputies, and senators. In between (every two years), supplementary elections are held for the renewal of certain deputies and senators. At the national level, the head of state and the parliament are elected; all citizens aged 16 and over have the right to vote, and citizens aged 18 to 70 are obliged to vote. The president and vice president have four-year terms with a two-round system. Since 1994, there has been a prime minister, officially known as Argentina's head of government, who is appointed by the president with the consent of Congress. The National Assembly consists of two parliaments. It is made up of 257 members elected by the Autonomous Province of Buenos Aires and each of the 23 provinces for four-year terms. elected from tripartite constituencies (23 provinces and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires) for six-year terms, with the largest party or coalition receiving two seats. One-third of the constituencies are re-elected every two years.
