Informations on Elections
On 7 September 2024, a Presidential Election was held in Algeria. The results are as follows:
- Abdelmadjid Tebboune (Independent): 5,329,253 votes, 94.65%
- Abdelaali Hassani Cherif (MSP): 178,797 votes, 3.18%
- Youcef Aouchiche (FFS): 122,146 votes, 2.17%
About the electoral system
The President of Algeria is elected by a two-round system. If a candidate receives the majority of votes in the first round, they are elected immediately. Otherwise, a second round is held. Candidates need signatures from either 600 elected officials or 50,000 members of the public to appear on the ballot.
