About the electoral system

The 60 members of the Great and General Council are elected by proportional representation using the d'Hondt method. The electoral threshold is set by multiplying the number of participating parties by 0.4, with a maximum threshold of 3.5%. If no party secures a majority and the two largest parties cannot form a coalition within thirty days, a run-off election is held between the top two coalitions. The winner of this second round is awarded a seat bonus to secure a majority.
