Sergei Syrankov, Communist Party of Belarus: 3.23%
Oleg Gaidukevich, Liberal Democratic Party of Belarus: 2.04%
Hanna Kanapatskaya, Independent: 1.87%
Alexander Khizhnyak, Republican Party of Labour and Justice: 1.75%
Other Candidates: 3.63%

Total Votes: 5,916,834

Registered Voters: 6,903,994

Voter Turnout: 85.70%

Abstention: 14.30%


Electoral System
The President of Belarus is elected through direct voting by the country’s citizens for a five-year term. Every Belarusian citizen who is at least 18 years old has the right to vote in the elections. To be a presidential candidate, one must be a citizen of Belarus, over 40 years old, and have resided in the country for at least 20 years.

General Information
Alexander Lukashenko has been the head of state of Belarus since 1994 and is currently serving his seventh term. His role and responsibilities are defined by the Constitution of Belarus and the Presidential Act. As the leader of the country, he is responsible for maintaining sovereignty, national security, territorial integrity, as well as political and economic stability.
Apart from being head of state, the President is also the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and the Head of the Security Council. His powers include shaping and implementing domestic and foreign policy, representing Belarus on the international stage, organizing parliamentary elections, appointing key government and judicial officials, signing laws, granting pardons, and awarding state honors and titles.
